Towards the end of January 2019, we packed our bags to journey yet again across the pond. We prefer flying into Heathrow, but we also aren't fans of Layovers (who-is) and Delta wasn't flying any non-stops from SLC to London at the time. So, we ended up taking a non-stop into CDG, Paris, and then another quick flight into Manchester. Hired a 2019 Volvo Wagon with a little bit of LIDAR, not quite as rad as a Tesla but close enough.
We had a list of people to see, our first stop was out in Wrexham, Wales. A Blue early 90's Defender 110, with some decent kit, this bad boy had a space heater that ran off of diesel 🤘Not something you see every day. After a good inspection inside and out, we took it greenlaning and found out the front diff was shot. The owner wasn't willing to negotiate on price, even with the repairs that were needed, so we headed to the local high-street for some absolutely fantastic Fish and Chips before driving up towards Bradford, UK for the night.
Day 2, we had time to burn, (we’re early risers) so we grabbed some breakfast at McDonalds- they have a double sausage, egg samich that is damn tasty. Our first stop of the day- this dude had a dozen or more Defender 90’s, 110’s etc. We took one of his Land Rover Defender 110’s on a drive around Bradford, but he wasn’t moving much on pricing either so bid him farewell. We were now at a crossroads, did we head down south towards Rugby or into Leeds to see a couple of 110 Vans 🤷♂️.... we decided to head south (the days are short during the winter months) Its amazing how things just fall into place. When we met our contact in Rugby, they put us in touch with another gentleman that had a proper Land Rover and Race Car restoration shop. So many Land Rovers to see, almost all of them LHD, and about as rust free as you can get- we were in Defender Heaven.
